2018 Intern Gabby Pena shares her insight on The First Tee of Metropolitan New York.
Volunteering is a vital part of helping The First Tee of Metropolitan New York deliver programs that build character, introduce life improving values and promote healthy choices through the game of golf.
Volunteers at TFTMY Mosholu Golf Course help younger participants navigate the golf course safely. Volunteer Clayton Wong states “Probably just being outside and being able to try to be a mentor to some of these kids. Helping guide them on their path both in life and golf.” Our volunteers are passionate about helping kids become better golfers and citizens of their community. The volunteers are instrumental in helping develop our future leaders.
Volunteer and The First Tee of Met New York participant Adrian Djonvalaj has been part of the program for about eight years and shares he enjoys volunteering because he wants to give back.
The First Tee is so grateful toward their volunteers, its amazing knowing how many people want to donate their time to helping them run everything smoothly. While many of the volunteers play golf, it isn’t a requirement when becoming a volunteer or coach. You don’t have to be a professional or have experience with the game just passion for helping kids become better people and golfers. Help inspire future golfers by creating positive relationships with them as a volunteer, coach, or mentor at The First Tee by visiting our volunteer page HERE.
