Kuriko Tsukiyama wins First Blue Heron Pines Junior Open Girls Division!
Kuriko Tsukiyama of Bogota, New Jersey is the winner of the Girls 12-14 Division of the First Annual Bule Heron Pines Junior Open in Cologne, New Jersey. The event was coordinated by Mr. I. B. Lee, Player Development Manager at Blue Heron Pines and principal sponsor Young D. Kwon, President, KRB (Korean Radio Broadcasting). The two-day event, a regular stop on the fall International Junior Golf Tour, took place October 10th and 11th and there were 67 boys and girls in the four contested divisions. (Boys 12-14 and 15-18, Girls 12-14 and 15-18) Kuriko was the only participant who shot under par at the event with a 2 under 70. Also competing in the boys 15-18 age division was Matthew Lyons of Manhattan. Kuriko and Matthew were also members of The First Tee of Metropolitan New York’s winning Tri-Match team that played against The First Tee of Massachusetts and The First Tee of Ireland at Plainfield Country Club this past July and the only two who ‘aced’ the life skills portion of the Tri-Match competition since its inception three years ago.
