About Us

In June 2005, Nassau County, The First Tee, The Metropolitan Golf Association Foundation, and The Metropolitan Section PGA launched The First of Nassau County at Eisenhower Park.  This collaborative effort offers youngsters from Nassau County a Life Skills and Golf Experience promoting golf to a whole new group of citizens.

Eisenhower Park, a 54-hole golf facility, is part of the Nassau County Parks and Recreation system.  The historic Red Course at Eisenhower hosts the PGA Champions Tour Commerce Bank Championship and recently celebrated the 75th Anniversary of Walter Hagen’s record breaking PGA victory.

The facility’s size and layout are perfectly suited for the golf and “Life Skills” instruction that is conducted on a daily basis throughout the summer as well as during the spring and fall through weekend and after-school programs.

The true value of this program is based on golf’s unique ability to instill and nurture essential values such as honestly, integrity, sportsmanship, and a solid work ethic in young people who are introduced to the game.

A list of the community groups that have already taken advantage of The First Tee experience at Eisenhower Park are:

The First Tee of Nassau County has only been in existence since 2005, but our programs have already reached thousands of young people through the game of golf with more than 1,200 students participating in programs at Eisenhower Park this past year.  We have had great success in advancing our young people through the Life Skills Levels of the program and expect even greater success and growth in the 2008 season.

Click on the corresponding program for more information about each:
PLAYer ~ Par ~ Birdie ~ Eagle ~ Ace

Students begin at The First Tee in the PLAYer Level and then progress through Par, Birdie, Eagle  and Ace Levels.  The Ace Level was created with an emphasis on leadership, community service, game improvement, and career planning.

A group of Nassau County, Eagle Certified, participants is enrolled in the Ace Level program.  These accomplished “Go-To” Team leaders are key elements of the mentoring and instruction provided to the younger participants in the program throughout the year.
